The Eagle's Perspective - Urban Photography in Sydney

Year 2015 is going fast, very fast. I have now spent eight months in Sydney and the year abroad is slowly but surely getting to a close. But before that, my wife and I are making sure that we enjoy the country as much as we can besides studying full-time. Two week ago, we decided to take the train and go up the Sydney Tower after school. I had this idea of trying a couple of urban high altitude shots and Saskia wanted to enjoy the sunset from above.

The view up there is glorious and we were there just in time to enjoy the sunset. The downside though, is that the accessible section of the tower is covered in glass and therefore quite challenging for photographers. The reflections were hard to manage and in the end I developed a DYI solution to get good enough results (a spare jumper to cover the camera and making sure that the lens was as close to the windows as possible). After all, I think that the resulting images are good and I am satisfied with our late afternoon urban adventure.

On a personal note: I would like to thank you all for the very kind comments and compliments on my post The End of Winter in Australia. I was blown away by the response and cannot wait to share more images as travels will intensify in the coming months.

All photos were shot with an Olympus OM-D E-M10, Panasonic Lumix G 20mm F1.7 ASPH lens and a sturdy tripod for the night shots.
